WHAT IS A FOOD HUB?
A food hub is a business or organization that manages the aggregation, distribution, and marketing of food products primarily from local and regional producers for sale to wholesale, retail, and institutional markets. Food hubs can sell either directly to consumers, to institutional partners (like universities and hospitals) or both!

WHAT IS A (FOOD) COOPERATIVE?
A food cooperative is a food distribution outlet organized as a cooperative, rather than a private or public company. Food cooperatives can either be worker cooperatives, in which the decisions are made by the employees, or consumer cooperatives, where the decisions regarding the production and distribution of its food are chosen by its members. Since decisions about how to run a cooperative are not made by outside shareholders, cooperatives often exhibit a higher degree of social responsibility than their corporate counterparts. |
